Trick or Treat

This year I had a very difficult time deciding what I wanted to be for Halloween. For a while I thought I should be a Garden Gnome, but then I realized it wasn't really something I was looking forward to being. While shopping at Trader Joes, the theme song for the Addams Family started playing and an idea struck me. Wednesday Addams. So I did some research and found to my delight that Wednesday had a pet spider ( I love spiders ) and that I had all the pieces I would need for my costume at home. (Photos: 1. I met up with Ventana on Hallows Eve and we went to school to go on the little tour there. She was a Cave Woman and looked rather like Pebbles from the Flintstones. The tour was fun, but it didn't seem to have the life it used to possess. Next we went to Grace's house to go Trick or Treating with her, her sister Rose Hannah, her friend Maya and My. My was a cat, while Grace and Hannah were a dragonfly and a ladybug. Grace's little brother Juda was a "Valley Girl" and looked exactly like a girl. It was hysterical!


Trick or Treating was fun, but not the best ever. I got a bunch of my favorite candy (Milky Ways) and had a scare or two on the way. Like when a man dresses as a clown jumped out of the bushes with a chain saw, scaring Ventana half to death.
Next we all headed over to Ventana's house for really yummy food and to watch Young Frankenstein. Elizabeth was there as well, she was a carrot.

In all I had a really fun time!

(500) Days of Summer

I saw the trailer for 500 Days of Summer a couple months back and found myself wanting to see it very much. I thought it looked really good and different from other films of its genre. The film was released, but since it was a smaller Sun Dance film, it wasn't released in all theaters right away. A couple days ago Ventana, My, Grace and I went to see it after play rehearsals.
I really enjoyed the film. It's funny, cute, and has some really great scenes. The way they split up the screen was really cool! Sometimes two things going on at once.
500 Days of Summer is the story of a man, Tom Hansen, who believes he'll never be truly happy until he meets "the one". Upon meeting Summer Finn he falls head over heels for her, but it is soon apparent, Summer isn't to fond of the idea of love, or relationships. The film is the story of the 500 days Summer is a part of Tom's life. It is not a love story, it is a story about love.
The film is not in order, which I thought was a really interesting. You would think that this might be odd or confusing to watch, but I think it really improved the story and made it more interesting. When you look back on a time of your life, you often don't remember it in order and I think thats what this film is trying to portray, a memory. Zooey Deschanel (Summer) and Joesph Gordon-Levitt (Tom) were both very good. They had good chemistry and made their characters very believable. You really liked Tom and felt sad or happy just as he did.
The film looked great as well! They used blue throughout the film which seemed to hold the film together. The film was very rich and had great lighting. I also really enjoyed the music. Its soundtrack is made up of existing, or songs written for the film. It had songs from some of my favorite artists like Feist and Regina Spektor.
The only downside to the film, is it left me rather unhappy. Don't get me wrong, the film has a happy ending, but I suppose it is just not the ending I would have liked.
In all the film was very good and I'd recommend seeing it.
