My Birthday

It was my 15th Birthday today. I had a bunch of my best friends over, Elizabeth, Mary, My and Ventana. I also had a bunch of my family over. My friends and I talked for a while, and also started to film a movie, although it started raining half way through. We also made "kindergarten soup", and we took a bunch of pictures on my computer. My grandma's made really good chocolate cakes, and a cherry pie, and I feel like I'm going to explode I ate so much. It was a really great day! I still can't believe I'm fifteen. I hope that this new year is even better then last year.

The Mouse That Roared

I've been taking drama as my art elective in school, and last weekend we preformed our play "The Mouse That Roared." I had been really worried that we would not have it done in time, but it ended up turning out really good. We had a show on Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. The two night shows were the best, but they were all good. The Mouse That Roared is the story of a tiny Europeain country called Grand Fenwik who decided to go to war with the United States over wine. It is a comedy that deals with a 22 year old Duchess, the President, a woodsman and many more unique characters. My and I played two army girls, Jill and Debbie, who are captured by Grand Fenwik. We had to wear high skirts, and paint our feet purple! I had a lot of fun. The cast was amazing to be around, especially on "Tec-Week" when we had to stay at school till nine every night. I made a lot of friends in other grades, which was great because the high school classes don't mix very much. It was a great experience, and I'm looking forward to doing the musical next year!

Atonement

Ever since it came out, I've been eagerly awaiting the day when I could see Atonement. I finally did, and I can tell you, it was well worth the wait! It was absolutely amazing! Atonement tells the story of 13 year old Briony Tallis, who accuses her sisters lover of a crime he did not commit. Once she realizes her mistake, Briony must seek forgiveness for her childhood misunderstanding, causing her to lead a life of atonement. The film was beautifully shot and directed which made it very nice to watch. The lovely English setting also contibuted to the brillence of the film. The acting was also amazing! James McAvoy and Keria Knightly worked so well together, they playe their roles perfectly. Saoirse Ronan was also amazing. She was perfect as the role and young Briony. You really felt compassion for her throughout the whole film. Romola Garai and Vanessa Redgrave were also very good! In all it was an absolutely wonderful film. I highly recommend it! It is one of my favorite films! I loved it!

Lost Puzzle

For Christmas I received a 'Lost' puzzle. Mom and I were so excited to put it together, when we realized that there was no picture of what the puzzle looked like on the box. We printed it out, and then began to put together the puzzle that took three days to complete! Mom, Greg, Dad and I worked very hard to put it together. Once complete I brought it into my room at night and de-coded the secret glow-in-the-dark message on the back! It was a piece of a map of the island. It has writing and drawings that can give you clues to the Dharma Initiative. It was the 2nd out of 4 puzzles and we are all eager to get the next one to put together!

New Blog

Hello!
I just wanted to let you all know that I have a separate knitting  blog now with my friend My!
Check it out here:

D.J. MacHale

I recently attended a talk by one of my favorite authors, D.J. MacHale. He writes one of my favorite series called Pendragon. As soon as I heard the talk would be at the Sheman Oaks library, I knew I had to go. At the talk he read the first chapter in the upcoming book, and he answered our questions. He also talked about what inspired Pendragon, and how he became a writer. In all it was a very fun day! I left the library with a bunch of signed books, and feeling very happy!

Quince Paste Recipe

With the holidays fast approaching delicious foods are on there way. Every year I look forward to eating and cooking quince cookies and pie, so this year I decided to make my own quince.
My dad brought me back some quince from Santa Cruz, I asked my grandma for the recipe, and I was ready to go.Here is the recipe:

3 Quince
2 cups of sugar
1/4 cup lime juice
5 peeled cardamom pods

1-Wash and rub the fuzz off the quince, core, cut into
wedges and place in a container of water w/splash of
vinegar.
2-Place the quince seeds in a cheese cloth and tie.
3-Transfer the quince to a pot, and remove vinegar water. Cover quince with 1 1/2 cups of clean water, add 1/2 cup of sugar and the wrapped quince
sees, and bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer
over low heat for about 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
4-Squeeze and then remove the wrapped seeds from the
pot and discard them. Puree the quince in a food
processor with juice and return to the pot. Add remaining sugar,
lime juice and cardamom. Cover and simmer over low
heat for 1 1/2 hours stirring occasionally or until
the water has evaporated , turning into a thick paste.
5-Put paste into jar and refrigerate. The paste is delicious on toast or in pies!
Enjoy!!

Halloween

Every year I look forward to the time of year when the day last longer into the night and the veil to the spirit world grows thin. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I always loved the idea of being someone new and not myself! I was a lamb, a fox, a fairy, a cat, a butterfly, Galadrial, a peasant, a pirate, a vampire, and a jester. All my costumes were really cool, this year is no different. My dad came up with the great idea of being a painting. We made the costume but it was harder than it looks. In the end it turned out perfect.
On Halloween My came over. We made a costume for her, she was a doll, it looked really cute! We ate and then headed out. Every house we went to we got tons of compliments. Mom Greg and I also saw a really cool like skit thing at a house door the street from us. It was really nice. In the end it was a pretty good Halloween. I had fun!

Across the Universe

Yesterday I saw Across the Universe for the first time. It was very good! If you like the Beatles you must see it! The film tells the story of Jude who comes to visit America. He meets a guy named Max and soon he is in love with his sister Lucy. The acting is good and the direction was really nice. Add in the Beatles music and you have an amazing film. Julie Taymor did a great job on the directing. It was beautiful, symbolic and thought out. She did a great job. I was a Beatles fan before and I'm a bigger fan now. I highly recommend the film. It was very good.
