Vancouver, Canada: Day 1 and 2

Day 1:
We left the house at 3:30 yesterday, our flight being at 5:00, picked up my grandma and headed off for the airport. Once we were half way there my mom realized that had she forgotten my passport at home. I couldn't fly into Canada without my passport, so we had to go back home to get it. We finally got to the airport, only to find, that we missed our flight, thus we were re-scheduled for 7:20pm. I got some tea, then we boarded the plane. My mom and I listened to the 6th book of Harry Potter while we were drawing, Greg watched movies. After 2 hours we finally arrived in Canada.
Every year, Vancouver holds the Celebration of Light. It is a competition between countries to put on the best firework display. We were really hoping to see it, but unfortunately, because of our flight change, we missed it. We didn't miss the people though. Due to all the people it took normally 20 minute drive to Rainmaker Studios, Greg's work, 40 minutes. From there we headed to the hotel. At first we couldn't find parking so we parked to the RESERVED section while we unloaded some of our things. We went to get in the elevator, but we realized that we didn't have a special card to get in with. We managed to find an elevator that didn't need the card, but then we ran into another problem; the hotel door was locked! We knocked for a minute, then someone came and let us in. We finally got to our room and unpacked. Since it was dark I couldn't see what the city looked like, which was rather disappointing. I read for a few minutes, then went to sleep.

Day 2:
I awoke to the sound of a girl crying, it was not the best thing to wake up to. I looked outside for the first time, Wow! It's so pretty here. It's like a city of buildings and trees. The sky is blue, and you can see for miles. You can see the water, and the mountains. We left the house around 12 then drove to Granville Island. Finally finding parking we went to eat at a really good restaurant called The Sand Bar. I had an amazing beet salad, Tuscan flat-bread, and chicken Quesadillas. From there we began exploring Granville Island Market, beginning with a silk weaving place. Inside the store they had some beautiful clothes, looms and silk worms. The saleslady told us about the process of making silk; first the egg hatches and the worm comes out, after a week or so he begins to build his cocoon. He hatches from the cocoon as a big white moth, which then lays the eggs. The silk-weavers take the cocoon silk and spin it into a sort of string, which they weave with. From there we ventured on.
Granville Island Market is a really nice farmers market type place. Next we went to this really nice little organic clothes shop. All the things I liked were too big, but Greg got a pair of shoes. We then went to this Indian type shop specializing in natural dyed clothing. Greg was lucky again and got a bunch of nice shirts. From there we visited a paper store, a candy store for turkish delight, an AMAZING gelato place, and a bead store. From there we went back to the car and home, with the idea to return to see more soon.
We made dinner from the fresh, delicious items we purchased at the market; butternut-squash gnoochi, green salad and brocoli. Afterward we went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! I love that film and book!!!!
Well that's it from Day 1 and 2 in Canada!! See you!!
